Abdominal Ultrasound

An abdominal ultrasound is a diagnostic medical imaging service that is used to assess organs within the abdomen.

This includes the liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidneys pancreas, aorta, IVC, spleen, and appendix/bowel. .

8 hour fasting is required for this ultrasound. 

Please do not eat or drink anything past midnight the evening before your exam (including smoking and chewing gum).

You may continue to take medications as required with small amounts of clear fluid (water or juice).

Every effort will be made to schedule abdominal exams in the morning to reduce the discomfort associated with fasting.
